Academic Calendar
It is important to start looking at the Academic Calendar once it becomes available for the according school year. Please note "Important Dates" as students are responsible for being familiar with, and adhering to, published dates and deadlines, especially in relation to adding and dropping courses. Bachelor of Science in Nursing students should contact their departments for pertinent dates.
Constantly check Trent Calendar (https://www.trentu.ca/events/calendarView.php), your Trent email, Trent University social medias (https://www.facebook.com/trentuniversity/ https://www.instagram.com/trentuniversity/?hl=en https://twitter.com/TrentUniversity), etc. If you are not receiving emails that your peers are, please contact IT (https://www.trentu.ca/it/contact).

Nursing Courses
Once again, the academic calendar lists all program courses, specifically all "NURS" courses. Plan ahead, such as working backwards. Look at fourth year courses and the prerequisites and plan third year course, then second year courses, etc. For example, The NURS 4022 Clinical course requires a 70% or higher in NURS 3560, which requires 70% or higher in NURS 3550 and NURS 2003, which requires 60% or higher in NURS 2000, NURS 2020, NURS 2001, NURS 2021, NURS 2003, NURS 2550, NURS 1000, NURS 1001, NURS 1002, NURS 1020, and a pass in BIOL 1050 and BIOL 1051.
Any questions can be emailed to your specific program coordinator.
Electives
It is great to take courses that you are interested in! Remember your degree requirements. Remember your GPA (grade point average). Consider if you want to continue education, etc. Speak to academic advisors and older students. Remember that “bird courses” may have been easy for other but not for you, and vice versa.
Transfer Credits
You will be able to view your transfer credits in two different places on the myTrent student portal. When you log in, select the “Academics” tab from across the top, then the icon labeled “Transfer Credits”. This will provide you with a list of which courses at your previous institution (on the left hand side) transferred to which courses here at Trent (on the right hand side).
For additional transfer credits, you may need to obtain an electronic copy of the course syllabi in the year that you took it and email it to nursingadmissions@trentu.ca. The syllabi will be sent to Nursing where it will be evaluated by the appropriate subject matter expert. You should also follow-up with the academic coordinator for appropriate program planning.
