TFNSA Executive Positions

President and Vice President ● Act as the primary liaisons between the TFNSA board and the School of Nursing. ● Act as the primary liaisons between the TFNSA board and the general public. ● Act as the primary liaison between the TFNSA and Trent Risk Management. ● Work to cultivate a supportive environment for the growth of the association by connecting with the nursing student body and actively engaging in the promotion. ● Facilitate the development and implementation of a strategic plan. ● Work with the executive to plan, organize and facilitate activities and events. ● Serve as a co-signature for all TFNSA financial transactions. ● Presidents shall hold their position for two years; one year as Vice President and one year as President. ● Shall be responsible for ordering TFSON clothing twice per year. Director of Communications ● Monitors the activities of the TFNSA executive and communicates relevant information to the nursing student body via Blackboard announcements, emails, Instagram and Facebook posts. ● Monitors TFNSA email, Instagram and Facebook accounts and responds or forwards information to appropriate board member for correspondence. ● Creates and monitors Facebook events for internal nursing school activities. ● Records TFNSA board and general meeting minutes and distributes them to board members within 48 hours and posts them on the TFSON Intranet. ● Facilitates the organization of room bookings for TFNSA board meetings and TFNSA facilitated study groups. ● Participates in the implementation of TFNSA activities and events. Junior Director of Finance ● Assists Senior Director of Finance with all financial transactions for the TFNSA. ● Maintains neat, organized, detailed records of all transactions. ● Any transactions received will be organized and given to the Senior Director of Finance for filing. ● Assists the Senior Director of Finance with the creation and adherence to a financial plan for the academic year. ● In partnership with other TFNSA board members, develops innovative methods to fundraise for TFNSA activities and community services. ● Creates proposals to the School of Nursing and corporate sponsors for periodic funding. ● Holds a two-year contract; one year as the Junior Director of Finance and one year as the Senior Director of Finance ● Participates in the implementation of TFNSA activities and events. Senior Director of Finance ● Handles all financial transactions for the TFNSA. ● Maintains neat, organized, detailed records of all transactions. ● Facilitates the creation and adherence to a financial plan for the academic year. ● In partnership with other TFNSA board members, develops innovative methods to fundraise for TFNSA activities and community services. ● Creates proposals to the School of Nursing and corporate sponsors for periodic funding. ● Electronically provides monthly financial statements to the executive board. ● Collaborates with the Junior Director of Finance for the teaching of role responsibilities and delegation of responsibilities. ● Participates in the implementation of TFNSA activities and events. Director of Social Events ● Facilitates coordination of social activities for the nursing student body. ● Works with the Director of Finance to coordinate fundraising activities and develop sustainable events. ● Shall be responsible for holding at least three social events during the academic year. ● Participates in the implementation of TFNSA activities and events. ● Collaborates with the Director of Communication to promote activities and events. Director of Community Service ● Facilitates the coordination of community service activities. ● Acts as a liaison between the TFNSA board and various community political action projects run by nursing students. ● Acts as a liaison between the TFNSA board and community service organizations with volunteer opportunities for nursing students. ● Shall be responsible for holding at least one nursing-based community service event during the academic year. ● Participates in the implementation of TFNSA activities and events. CNSA (Canadian Nursing Students’ Association) Official Delegate ● Serves as the primary representative for the Canadian Nursing Students Association (CNSA). ● Communicates all CNSA related activities to the TFNSA board and shares TFNSA activities to the CNSA Regional Representatives. ● Collects and submits annual CNSA membership fees from the Trent/Fleming School of Nursing. ● Coordinates CNSA-related awareness campaigns and promotes membership benefits to School of Nursing students. ● Represents Trent University at the Regional and National CNSA conferences and with Associate Delegate(s) provides an overview of the conferences to School of Nursing Students. ● Acts as a mentor to the CNSA Associate Delegate. ● Participates in the implementation of TFNSA activities and events. CNSA (Canadian Nursing Students’ Association) Associate Delegate ● Serves as the Associate Delegate to the Official Delegate for the Canadian Nursing Students Association. ● Assists the Official Delegate with all CNSA-related material. ● Assumes responsibilities of the CNSA Official Delegate when they are unable to fulfill duties. ● Represents Trent University at the Regional and National CNSA Conferences. ● Holds a two-year contract; one year as the CNSA Associate Delegate and one year as the CNSA Official Delegate. ● Participates in the implementation of TFNSA activities and events. RNAO (Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario) Liaison ● Acts as the primary liaison between the TFNSA board, nursing students and the RNAO. ● Attends RNAO Kawartha-Victoria Chapter meetings and events on a regular basis. ● Promotes RNAO membership, benefits, services, and events to the Trent University nursing student community. ● Acts as the person of contact for nursing students with RNAO inquiries. ● Participates in the implementation of TFNSA activities and events. Lower Year Collaborative Stream Representative (1000 or 2000 level students) ● Acts as the primary liaison between the TFNSA board and first and second-year collaborative nursing students. ● Ensures that activities and events are adequately communicated to constituents. ● Advocates for first & second-year collaborative nursing student interests and relays them to the TFNSA board. ● Participates in the implementation of TFNSA activities and events. ● Shall be responsible for taking photographs during events and activities and sending them to the Directors of Communications for Facebook & Instagram use. Upper Year Collaborative Stream Representative (3000 or 4000 level students) ● Acts as the primary liaison between the TFNSA board and third year and fourth year nursing students. ● Ensures that activities and events are adequately communicated to constituents. ● Advocates for third and fourth year nursing student interests and relays them to the TFNSA board. ● Participates in the implementation of TFNSA activities and events. ● Shall be responsible for taking photographs during events and activities and sending them to the Directors of Communications for Facebook & Instagram use. Compressed Stream Representative ● There will be one compressed stream students that fulfill this position every term. ● Acts as the primary liaison between the TFNSA and the compressed student body. ● Ensures that activities and events are adequately communicated to constituents. ● Advocates for compressed stream student interests and relays them to the TFNSA board. ● Shall hold at least one social or academic event during the academic term for compressed students in the Peterborough area. ● Participates in the implementation of TFNSA activities and events. Summer Compressed Stream Representative ● There will be one compressed stream students that fulfill this position every summer (May to August). ● Acts as the primary liaison between the TFNSA and the compressed student body. ● Ensures that activities and events are adequately communicated to constituents. ● Advocates for compressed stream student interests and relays them to the TFNSA board. ● Shall hold at least one social or academic event per summer semester (total of two events over summer) for compressed students in the Peterborough area. ● Acts as Master of Ceremonies at the Pinning Ceremony following convocation. ● Participates in the implementation of TFNSA activities and events. ● Shall have access to TFNSA Facebook and Instagram pages for promotion of events. Buddy Program Coordinator ● Acts as the primary liaison between the TFNSA and all Buddy Mentors. ● Will chair and oversee all facets of the Buddy Program, including the continuous monitoring of emails and Facebook pages throughout the Fall and Winter Semesters. ● Shall be responsible for the position advertisement and selection of the upper year Buddy Mentors. ● Shall obtain approval from the Co-Presidents before distributing any official Buddy Program correspondence to mentee students. ● Buddy Mentors shall obtain approval from the Buddy Program Coordinator before distributing any official Buddy Program correspondence to mentee students. ● Participates in the implementation of TFNSA activities and events. George Brown Leader ● Acts as the primary liaison between the TFNSA George Brown site and the TFNSA Trent site. ● Maintains regular email communication with the Co-Presidents and attends TFNSA Trent board meetings via Skype or Teleconference. ● Shall be responsible for ordering/handling TFSON clothing twice per year. ● Holds regular meetings with the George Brown Representatives. ● Advocates for George Brown nursing student interests and relays them to the TFNSA board. ● Participates in the implementation of TFNSA activities and events at the George Brown site. George Brown Associate ● There will be two students that fulfill this position every year. ● Advocates for George Brown nursing student interests and relays them to the TFNSA board. ● Participates in the implementation of TFNSA activities and events. Faculty Advisor ● Shall be voted on by the Executive. ● Shall sit on the Executive as an observer. ● Act as a liaison between the TFNSA and the TFSON. ● Act as an information resource regarding issues of academic procedures, student resources, faculty updates and requests, and professional supports/workshops/speakers.
